Our Board of Directors


Randy Reynolds is the Founder and Executive Director of Community Renewal. He came to Arizona from Southern California on a gymnastics scholarship to the University of Arizona in 1968. While at the U of A, he started a Bible study that grew to become a local church called the Vineyard Christian Community. This church focused on the marginalized, hippies, homeless and others who needed to find the love of Christ. He served there as the pastor until 1985. In 1985, Randall started Renewal Counseling and served as its founder and executive director until October of 2005. During that time he authored and published nine books and workbooks including Common Grace for Relationships and the Recovery Discovery Series workbooks. In 2006, Randall started Community Renewal, with the mission of transforming the city. He continues to counsel part-time and he is working on encouraging the body of Christ to bring healing, development and the Good News to the poor, marginalized, vulnerable and broken in Tucson. Randy has four children and six grandchildren and lives with his wife Lynn Marry Reynolds.

 

Don Blascak is the President on the board. Don served for thirty years from 1956 to 1986 in the United States Army. He is the co-founder of Stand Down for Homeless Veterans, Festival of Hope and Hope Fest. He coordinated six Festival of Hope Events focused on helping Tucson’s poor and homeless community. He was the facilities coordinator for Luis Palau Festival and the facilities and volunteer coordinator for two Promise Keeper Arena events. He has been part of the Tucson Planning Council for the Homeless and was on the Winter Shelter Committee and the Discharge Planning Committee for ex-offenders. He has been a coordinator for eight years and an instructor for five years for the Angel Tree Project-Prison Fellowship. He has been on numerous boards including Mission Tucson, Hope of Glory, Good News Newspaper, Interfaith Coalition for the Homeless, United Way (focused on helping the elderly), Tucson Coalition of Compassionate Ministries, the Arabian Oasis (an outreach to Middle Eastern residents of Tucson / Pima county), and Community Renewal. He has been involved extensively with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Action Team Coordinator, Operations Management Chairperson, Instructor and Shelter Manager.

Community Involvement: Leadership team of Hope Fest-provider assembly, event coordinator for Tucson Homeless Connect, on the committee for the Stand-down for homeless veterans

Connie Hamner is the Secretary on the board. Connie was born and raised in Iowa. She moved to Tucson in 1979. She has been a licensed real estate agent for 24 years with RE/MAX All Executives. Connie has been married to John Hamner for 34 years and they have a daughter Jennifer who is 29. She has attended Community Church of the Foothills ever since she moved to Tucson and has served on their Leadership Board, worship team as an organist and soloist and led as the President of Women’s Ministries for the BGC churches for the state of Arizona. She has had the joy of teaching women’s bible studies and her passion is one on one teaching to help others grow in Christ. She has served on Renewal Centers’ board for 3 years and on Community Renewal’s board since inception.

Community Involvement: Odyssey hospice volunteer for inpatient and home care, helps people get into housing

Jill Pearson is the Treasurer on the board. Jill has 25 years of organizational and management experience. She is the President of Self-Management System Corp. She has previously been the owner of Jill Pearson Co., Manager of Time Systems and District Manager of Allstate Insurance. She has been on the board of several organizations including Community Renewal, Pima County Workforce Investment, Renewal Centers, Casa Gloriosa, Fellowship of Companies of Christ and has been on committees at Faith Based Initiative, Jobs for Life, and Pima Co Outside Agency.

Community Involvement: Work-force board and faith-based initiative committee, Sunnyside Cuddlers, Hope Fest volunteer coordinator, Tucson Refugee volunteer

Jimmy J. Lovelace is the Vice President on the board. Jim is a Shareholder at Beach, Fleischman & Co., P.C. and is the Director for the firm's accounting and auditing services for governmental agencies and not-for-profit organizations. In addition, in his 19 years of public accounting he oversees other engagements, including manufacturing, contractors, department of defense and government contractors, high tech start ups, professional service corporations and software development companies. His Community/Association activities include: prior Board Member and Treasurer of Micro Advancement Center (formerly the Arizona Council of Economic Conversion) and has served on the United Way Audit Review Committee. Currently Jim is a director and past treasurer for the Saguaro Rotary Foundation and is actively a member of the Saguaro Rotary Club. He also served as a board member of the Arizona Small Business Association and was past chair of the Audit and Operations Review Committee in addition to serving on their Financial Advisory Committee. Jim also serves on the TUSD Bond Fiscal Oversight Committee and chairs their finance subcommittee. Additionally, he is the campaign treasurer for the Invest in our Kids TUSD M&O override ballot measure. He is also the treasurer elect for the Vail Education Foundation.

Community Involvement: Deals with Crown ministries, 1:1 counseling working with ex-offenders, Hope Fest volunteers, works with member organizations to get EIN with IRS and assisting with tax information

Daisy Lebron is our most recent addition to the board. She is a master hair designer and salon owner located in Tucson, Arizona, has been in the industry for seventeen years. She has been a Nexxus Aloxxi Certified Educator for more than six years. Her background includes working in numerous U.S. cities such as New York and Miami as well as abroad in Panama and Puerto Rico. Daisy's enthusiasm, hard work, and dedication to the professional industry and the community is evident in her presentations and willingness to share her knowledge and life experiences to her clients and those in need. Daisy has a heart for single moms. She utilizes her God-given gifts and opens up her home to them to help get them back on their feet to where they are able to sustain themselves and their families in today's world.

Community Involvement: worked at Victory Assembly’s Backpack to school for the kids that didn’t get backpacks received a make-over; works with Crisis Pregnancy Center; works with individuals and single moms to help get them back into the community; works with Cynthia Palmer and "Jobs for Life" providing make-overs for individuals that have job interviews
